Happy quilting
Another quilt done. This particular one is going to my cousin's baby. This baby will be here anytime this month. I wanted to make sure the quilt was done before she was born so the goal was to have it finished by the first of August. I almost made the goal. I'm very happy with this quilt overall. I used lots of the fabric that I had used in other quilts I've made. This was my first time using a patterned binding. (It has little white butterflies) The only think I'm not very happy with is where my binding connects. There is a noticeable bump. I cut one side too short and left the other side too long and tried to 'make it work.' It didn't work too well. It would be WAY too much work to redo it so I'm leaving like it is. I think for most it would be perfectly fine but for my 'Monica' tendencies it's definitely less than perfect. And you know us with 'Monica' personalities have to have things perfect. Overall I love this quilt. The backing I used was an accident. I bought a remnant at Wal-Mart and thought it would be enough to use in the front of a quilt so when I started on this quilt I drug it out to see how much was there to start cutting it up. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was exactly enough for the back! I really hope the new baby likes it!

Letting go
Once again I'm developing attachment to a quilt. While I'm piecing the to
p of a quilt I'm so excited about giving it away. I can't wait to finish it so I can wrap it up and present it to the person (or baby) in question. But something happens while I'm quilting it ... I get so attached I want to keep it for myself. Granted these quilts I'm currently making are really small and have some type of baby print to them. The current one even has Elmo on it. Once I get the whole thing finshed and the binding on it I'll be ok with giving it away again, but while it's in my quilting hoop I have such a strong attachment to it. The one I'm currently working on I plan on giving to a new
little cousin who we are waiting on the arrival.
After I finish this quilt I have two more cut out or almost cut out. They are also baby quilts and I really love both patterns! We'll see if I'm able to give them away! I also have two that need binding! I have a ton of quilting to do in the upcoming months.

Fabric fabric fabric
I am obsessed with fabric! I think I've convinced my husband to take me fabric shopping every weekend for the last two months. I buy fabric and get home and realize I need more fabric! I love fabric.

The other quilt is gender neutral. I'm excited about it too. I get so caught up in each quilt. It's really hard for me to part with them. So far I've given three away as gifts. I put so much time and planning into each one. It's almost like giving away a piece of yourself. ( I know that sounds a little strange. )

Luckily I love quilting too! I make 'baby' quilts. I just finished quilting two quilts last week. Except for the borders they are completely finished. Instead of doing the borders, I've moved onto two new quilts.
I'm super excited about the one I'm currently cutting out. It's very 'old lady'. It's pink, yellow and turquoise. I absolutely love it. I really want to keep it for myself but I think it's going to be a gift for my cousin's baby. She is due in September.

Anyway back to the original thought of fabric.... I've started these two new quilts and realized that I still need more fabric to finish them! Mark will be thrilled, but we MUST go back to Joann's!
